• Áǝƺ ׏ً דג ׎ ژ xáƺ ȸƺƏƬɎȒȸɀ The second periodic safety review Ł ӅӃӄӄё ŇŅĴŁņŀļŇŇĸķ ļŇņ ŃŅłŃłņĸķ łŅļĸŁŇĴŇļłŁņ ĹłŅ ŇĻĸ ĺĸŁĸŅļĶ study programme of the second periodic safety review for the ӄёӇӈӃׇ ĸ ŅĸĴĶŇłŅņє ĹŇĸŅ ĶłŁņňĿŇļŁĺ ŇĻĸ ļŁ ӅӃӄӅё supplemented its generic studies programme with a number of measures and clarified some of its proposals. ASN issued a ŃłņļŇļłŁ ņŇĴŇĸŀĸŁŇ ļŁ ĸĵŅňĴŅŌ ӅӃӄӈׇŅĸĺĴŅķļŁĺ ŇĻĸ łŅļĸŁŇĴŇļłŁņ of this second periodic safety review. It notably considers that the safety objectives for the second periodic safety review of the ӄёӇӈӃ ĸ ŅĸĴĶŇłŅņ ņĻłňĿķ ĵĸ ķĸĹļŁĸķ ļŁ ŇĻĸ ĿļĺĻŇ łĹ ŇĻĸ łĵĽĸĶŇļʼnĸņ ĴŃŃĿļĶĴĵĿĸ Ňł ŇĻĸ ŁĸŊ ŁňĶĿĸĴŅ ŃłŊĸŅ ŅĸĴĶŇłŅņ ĴŁķ Ĵņľĸķ to study measures liable to meet this requirement as rapidly as possible, with the aim of implementing them as of the second ŃĸŅļłķļĶ ņĴĹĸŇŌ ŅĸʼnļĸŊņ łĹ ŇĻĸ ӄёӇӈӃׇ ĸ ŅĸĴĶŇłŅņє Ļłłō ŅĸĴĶŇłŅ ӅׇĶĴŅŅļĸķ łňŇ ļŇņ ņĸĶłŁķ ŇĸŁіŌĸĴŅĿŌ ļŁņŃĸĶŇļłŁ ļŁ ӅӃӄӌё ŊĻļĿĸ ŇĻĸ łŇĻĸŅ ŇĸŁіŌĸĴŅĿŌ ļŁņŃĸĶŇļłŁņ łĹ ŇĻĸ ӄёӇӈӃׇ ĸ reactors will run until 2022. • ǕƺǣȇǕ ȅƏȇƏǕƺȅƺȇɎ With a view to continued operation beyond the fourth periodic ņĴĹĸŇŌ ŅĸʼnļĸŊ łĹ ŇĻĸ ӌӃӃ ĸ ŁňĶĿĸĴŅ ŃłŊĸŅ ŅĸĴĶŇłŅņё ļŁŇĸŁķņ to reuse the ageing management approach applied since the third periodic safety review of its reactors, while reinforcing its equipment renovation and replacement projects. Ageing management, in particular for non-replaceable items whose integrity is vital for safety –such as the reactor pressure vessel (see point 2.2)– and its containment (see point 2.3), as well as obsolescence management, are essential for maintaining a satisfactory level of safety. ĹŇĸŅ ĶłŁņļķĸŅļŁĺ ŇĻĴŇ ŇĻĸ ņŇĸŃņ ŇĴľĸŁ łŅ ŃĿĴŁŁĸķ ĵŌ –notably for identifying the various equipment degradation modes, implementing the corresponding countermeasures and integrating operating experience feedback– were on the ŊĻłĿĸ ņĴŇļņĹĴĶŇłŅŌё ļŁ ӅӃӄӆׇĴŁķ ŇĻĸŁ ĴĺĴļŁ ļŁ ӅӃӄӉё ҂ŊļŇĻ the support of IRSN– once more examined the ageing and łĵņłĿĸņĶĸŁĶĸ ŀĴŁĴĺĸŀĸŁŇ ĴŃŃŅłĴĶĻ ĴŁķ ļŁ ĴŅĶĻ ӅӃӄӋׇłĵŇĴļŁĸķ the opinions of the GPR and GPESPN. ŁłŇĸņ ŇĻĴŇ ĻĴņ ŇĴľĸŁ ĴĶĶłňŁŇ łĹ ŇĻĸ ŅĸńňĸņŇņ ļŇ ŀĴķĸ ļŁ ӅӃӄӆׇĴŁķ ӅӃӄӉє ĶłŁņļķĸŅņ ŇĻĴŇ ŇĻĸ ņŇĸŃņ ŇĴľĸŁ łŅ ŃĿĴŁŁĸķ to ensure management of the ageing and obsolescence of the ņŇŅňĶŇňŅĸņё ņŌņŇĸŀņ ĴŁķ ĶłŀŃłŁĸŁŇņ łĹ ŇĻĸ ӌӃӃׇ ĸ ŅĸĴĶŇłŅņ ĴŁķ thus contribute to maintaining their compliance beyond their fourth periodic safety review, supplemented by the undertakings made following the examination, are satisfactory. The programmes for equipment qualification for accident conditions are pertinent and enable this qualification to be extended beyond the fourth ten-yearly inspection. Actions are still in progress to cover all the equipment concerned. The envisaged exceptional maintenance operations (replacements, repairs or renovations scheduled during or after the fourth ten- yearly inspections) are consistent with the ageing assessments.
