Bilateral meeting between ASN and the Swedish regulator (SSM), 25-26 September

ASN received the Swedish Nuclear Safety Authority (SSM), chaired by its Director General Michael Knochenhauer, from 25 to 26 September 2024, as part of the bilateral relations between the ASN and its counterparts abroad.
During this meeting, ASN and SSM were able to reaffirm their ties and exchange views on a number of technical subjects, such as developments in the organisation and governance of nuclear safety in France and Sweden, skills management, the latest news on waste management and storage centres in France and Sweden, and the licensing process for small modular reactors (SMRs) and other new reactors.
A number of areas for cooperation between technical experts were also identified for the future. The two delegations emphasised the maturity of relations between SSM and ASN and the shared interest in the regular cross-inspections organised.
Following the technical discussions in Montrouge, the two delegations, led by Olivier Dubois, ASN commissioner, travelled to La Hague to visit Orano's spent fuel processing and recycling site.
