Flamanville EPR reactor vessel anomaly: ASN specifies the examination calendar
Information notice
On 26th and 27th June 2017 ASN will convene the Advisory Committee for nuclear pressure equipment (GP ESPN) to examine the anomaly affecting the composition of the steel used in the manufacture of the vessel closure head and bottom head of the Flamanville EPR reactor.
It will then draft a position statement that it will submit for public consultation until September 2017. It will issue a final position statement subsequent to this consultation.
ASN and its technical support organisation, IRSN, are at present reviewing the technical file submitted to them by Areva NP. This will be followed by the drafting of a report to be submitted for their opinion to the members of the Advisory Committee for nuclear pressure equipment.
In the same way as before any consultation of an Advisory Committee, ASN and IRSN have initiated a process to obtain Areva NP and EDF comments on a draft report. ASN will make the final report public after the meeting of the Advisory Committee for nuclear pressure equipment.
